About me
I am a recent graduate of Mt. San Jacinto Community College who majored in Chemistry. My academic journey did not begin in chemistry though. I started college as undecided, because I was unsure of what path to take; all I knew is that I liked science. I took one random intro chemistry course and fell in love with the science. Everything about chemistry amazed me; the atomic scale, the periodic table, all the elements, AMAZED ME! I found out I was actually very good at chemistry which inspired me to do better in the rest of my classes as well. Once I figured out chemistry was my passion, I changed my major from ‘undecided’ to chemistry.
I took many STEM related classes and ended up receiving three associates’ degrees in chemistry, mathematics, and physics. I was on the President’s Dean List and completed the rigorous Honors Enrichment Program.
What makes me a qualified tutor?
I’m glad you asked! My tutoring journey began at Paloma Valley High school where I tutored all subjects but mainly chemistry and math. I was an AVID tutor. An AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) tutor is a college student who supports high school students who are enrolled in an AVID elective class. Me along with several other tutors have worked closely with many high school students in solidifying their knowledge as well as helping them master their study techniques, organization skills, and communication!
Working here as a certified tutor made me realize my deep love for teaching. I met many amazing students who thrived in AVID and have gone off to university and continue to amaze me everyday. I am continuing my education at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo majoring in chemistry. My future goals are to graduate with my bachelors' degree in chemistry, complete my masters in education, and become a high school chemistry teacher.
